Often Asked Questions
We understand the careful thought and consideration that you put into any home improvement project. Below are answers to some of the most popular questions.
Who should I call first, an architect or a contractor?
I suggest consulting with a contractor first, to get a feel for the cost of the project. An architect can then be contacted to design the project. After reviewing blueprints, the contractor can then provide a more accurate estimate.
What must I do to prepare for the start of a project?
Make sure your belongings are moved out of the work area. Remove wall hangings and knic knacs to prevent damage to them. When roofing is being installed, items in an attic should be covered. For safety's sake, please keep all children and pets out of the work area.
How accurate are the starting and completion dates?
Scheduling is one of the most difficult parts of home remodeling. Weather, illness, wating for inspections, and requests and needs for additional work, can and do wreak havoc with scheduling. Unless otherwise stated, starting and completion dates are approximate.
Can I make changes after the work is started?
This is common in larger sized projects, and is one of the causes of scheduling difficulties. To avoid delays and excessive cost increases, it is best to make changes as soon as possible, before materials are ordered, delivered, or installed. Suppliers often charge a restocking fee, and specially ordered items cannot be cancelled or returned..
Will I be inconvenienced?
Yes! Home remodeling is an inconvenience. It is usually noisy, generates dust and debris, and disrupts daily schedules. We will do our best to keep inconveniences to a minimum. It is our goal to make and keep our customer's happy.
